Ilustration During Books Dear Martin (Dear Martin #1)

Raw, captivating, and undeniably real, Nic Stone joins industry giants Jason Reynolds and Walter Dean Myers as she boldly tackles American race relations in this stunning debut.

Justyce McAllister is top of his class and set for the Ivy League—but none of that matters to the police officer who just put him in handcuffs. And despite leaving his rough neighborhood behind, he can't escape the scorn of his former peers or the ridicule of his new classmates. Justyce looks to the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for answers. But do they hold up anymore? He starts a journal to Dr. King to find out.

Then comes the day Justyce goes driving with his best friend, Manny, windows rolled down, music turned up—way up, sparking the fury of a white off-duty cop beside them. Words fly. Shots are fired. Justyce and Manny are caught in the crosshairs. In the media fallout, it's Justyce who is under attack.

Criticize Epithetical Books Dear Martin (Dear Martin #1)
4.5 starsI honestly have no idea why this isnt getting more hype, because this book is absolutely beautiful, important, and poignant. It opens eyes & minds about issues that are happening RIGHT NOW, and it offers perspective from people who are the ones facing those issues. This is a book everyone should read.First, Id like to say that I am a person of color, but I am not black. Ive faced racism, bias, and other forms of prejudice & discrimination, but none as bad as what black people

Update with the aesthetics that are on my Tumblr (because why not?). English/ItalianoFirst of all, I have to say I am not a native english speaker so, please, I prefer to not be attacked, if I made any mistakes. Instead of do that, it would be nice if you corrected me, thank you :) Most importantly, I would like to thank NetGalley and publishers for allowing me to read this book. Thank you very much. You cant change how other people think and act, but youre in full control of you. When it comes down to it, the only question that matters is this: If nothing in the world ever changes, what type of man are you gonna be? Dear Martin is one of several YA novels that seem to have emerged in response to the killing of young black people by police officers in the U. S. and in keeping with the Black Lives Matter movement. Since it is YA and is likely going to be adopted in schools, it can provide an

Every moment of this felt like a punch to the gut. Theres honestly not much else to say about this book. Despite being incredibly short, I think Dear Martin speaks for itself about racism and hatred and prejudice. Its hard to write a book that makes a reader feel, but reading this book just made me feel like I was being punched in the gut, over and over. This was just so emotionally real. While the characters may not get many specific traits, they all feel so much like real people. It takes a
