Commentary Toward Books Switch! The Lost Kingdoms of Karibu (Lost Kingdoms of Karibu #1)
Alternate cover edition for ASIN B009H28446.Trouble is brewing in Karibu and Gogo Maya and her leopard are about to make matters worse. Their risky ‘switching’ trick has jettisoned them right out of the secret realm, sucking a teenager from the ordinary world into the mess they left behind them.
Ethan Flynn is pretty useless in the African bush but at least he knows how to do CPR . . . and that’s when he finds out you shouldn’t do it on a witch. The one he just rescued from drowning says she switched places with his cousin and now Ethan has sucked up all her magical powers, leaving her too weak to switch back again.
It must be true. Joe has vanished into thin air, Ethan’s feeling all unhinged, and the old woman’s leopard is communicating its thoughts straight into his head.
. . . alarming thoughts about teaming up with fearsome characters and traveling into dark places; disturbing thoughts about Joe in terrible danger unless Ethan learns to use the magic in time to rescue him.
That’s if Ethan himself can survive . . .

Karen Prince has created a timeless masterpiece of jungle fever that will have every teenager begging for more. Her obvious love of her homeland Zimbabwe shines from every page with startling knowledge and insights to the hardships and wonders encountered in the bush. Ethan is a pampered teenager used to the comforts of wealth, hates dirt, animals, anything outside his comfort zone which is basically outside the walls of his home. During a visit to his familys farm, Ethans friend Joe invites himIt is extremely rare that I will write a review before I have completely read the book. I recently finished reading the sample though, and am adding this book to my list that I intend to buy, because I want to learn what happens next. The characterization is superb. I can't decide who is my favorite character, the old witch (Mama Goyo, I believe it is?), the leopard, or Ethan. I am intrigued by the crocodiles and want to learn more about them. I laughed at the introduction to Mama Goyo, and the
Brilliant book. I loved every minute of it. Africa. . .Tokoloshe, naughty witches, what more could you want. Cannot wait for the sequel.
I love this book. The characters were great. I'm giving it 5 stars.
This was initially posted on my blog In the novel Switch the author, Karen Prince, creates an intricate story about self-discovery set in the heart of Africa. Prince seamlessly blends multiple points of view and a dynamic setting together in a way that makes for a wholly original coming of age story about a germaphobic, hypochondriac named Ethan. When Ethan is sent from the technologically advanced city of Cape Town to stay in the underdeveloped countryside of Zimbabwe with his father, Ethan has
The High Priest Drogba needs another body so that he can prolong his life, so what does he choose?Gogo Maya is a witch who has to make a switch in order to escape, but unfortunately for Joe, he was in the way. Joes cousin Ethan then finds that he has to save the life of the witch by giving her the kiss of life.....but the result is somewhat unexpected. The story revolves around Ethans trek through the jungle in order to find his cousin. With the help of a couple of friends, a leopard, some
Switch by Karen Prince is a fine example of how writers will often take their own familiar environment and transform it into a wonderland inhabited by beings of myth and imagination. Whether its vampires in New York or London, ghosts in Glen Laragain, or here, as in this case, witches, shape shifters and magic pools in the jungle of Zimbabwe. What begins as a camping trip in the Zimbabwean jungle soon degenerates into a frantic search for a lost boy. While diving into a waterfall Joe suddenly
